I love the afternoon light, that time when it is not yet a vivid sunset but the sky is just beginning to glow with soft warm shades of pink and orange. The delta is one of my favorite places in northern California. So much of it is still as if you have stepped back in time. It was painted after the newest bridge had been constructed and before the oldest bridge had been dismantled. It is a bit of nostalgia for local residents many of whom remember when the oldest of the three was being built. This was a tranquil afternoon, the sun still settling into the western horizon.
